What Happens When You Cancel an Influencer Platform? What You Actually Keep
Before canceling an influencer platform, save the contacts, records, files, licenses, permissions, and reports your contract lets you keep.
Canceling an influencer platform can mean losing access to the people, messages, and files you used to run your program. What you keep depends on the agreement—and whether you downloaded the things it allows you to retain before access ended.
The important questions are simple: can you invite the same influencers back, do you have their content, and can you keep using it? Ask those questions before signing, not when you are trying to cancel.
Can you invite the same influencers back without the platform?
A direct relationship and access to someone else's network are different purchases.
When you build your own network, you can get to know the influencers whose content, attitude, and effort you like. Future visits can build on those relationships. When you rent access to a network, the agreement may restrict direct collaborations with the people it introduced.
Ask whether you can contact and rebook those influencers during and after your subscription, and whether any restriction lasts beyond cancellation. Do not assume that having someone's Instagram handle means the contract allows an off-platform booking.
Also check what contact information you can retain. A dashboard full of influencers is much less useful after cancellation if you have no permitted way to reach them.
Having the video is not the same as having permission to use it
There are three things to check:
- The files: Do you receive the finished video, photos, and any agreed raw footage or B-roll?
- The content license: Can you edit, publish, and advertise with those files, and does that permission continue after cancellation?
- Partnership-ad permission: If you want an ad to run from the influencer's account, is that separate permission still active?
Downloading a video does not give you copyright ownership or automatically extend its license. Likewise, permission to run the video from your restaurant's account is not the same as permission to run a partnership ad from the influencer's account.
Save the agreement with the files so your next manager or agency can understand what may be used. If a license has an end date, record it. Our content-rights guide for restaurants explains the distinctions in more detail.
Save what you need while the account still works
Before canceling, download the records and files your agreement permits you to keep. Concentrate on the things you will actually use again:
| Keep a copy of | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Permitted influencer contact details and visit history | You know whom you worked with and who you would invite again |
| Finished content and agreed raw footage | You can open the actual files without the old platform login |
| Written deliverables, licenses, and permissions | You can see what was promised and how the content may be used |
| Important messages and outstanding work | You know which bookings, revisions, or payments still need attention |
| Reports and cancellation confirmation | You retain past results and the agreed service-end date |
Try opening a few downloaded files before your access expires. If the “download” is only a link that requires the platform login, you have not saved an independent copy.
What happens to visits and videos that are still pending?
Canceling the software does not necessarily cancel an agreement with an influencer.
Check future bookings, completed visits that are still missing content, requested revisions, and unpaid amounts. Confirm who will follow up on each one after the subscription ends. Do not leave an influencer expecting a visit your team has canceled or assume a promised video will arrive after the messaging system stops.
Then follow the cancellation method and notice period in your agreement. Save confirmation of the last charge and the date access ends. Review connected account access once any remaining work is complete.
This does not need to become a complicated offboarding project. The point is to avoid losing useful files or leaving a real commitment unfinished.
How does Remy approach the relationship?
Remy helps interested local influencers apply to work with your restaurant and handles the booking, reminders, and content follow-up. You are building direct restaurant relationships, without a new per-influencer software charge for each repeat collaboration.
That relationship model is distinct from the rights attached to individual files. Before canceling, confirm which records can be exported and which content permissions continue under your agreement. Do not infer a permanent content license from the fact that you know the influencer.
The best time to ask what you keep is before you buy. If the plan is to work with good local influencers repeatedly, choose a setup that lets those relationships become more useful over time.
